Joel
finds photo of Joe Beda wearing Propeller Hat
Joe Beda used to work for Microsoft on the Internet Explorer and
the new Avalon component of the next version of Windows called Longhorn.
It's interesting to see what he had to say when working for Micosoft.
Here is his hat: looks familiar!

Check
out the article Matt found about how Google employees use propeller
hats at the New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/business/30438.htm).
It states "... Beda even keeps an online diary of what it's
like to be a "Noogler," as new Google employees are called. He won't
reveal what he's working on but mentions that each Noogler is given
a hat with a propeller on the top...."

The Messenger spacecraft lifted off on-time aboard
a Boeing Delta II rocket from pad 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station, Fla., at 2:15:56.537 a.m. EDT. Messenger has successfully
begun its mission to unravel the mysteries of planet Mercury. The
Messenger spacecraft is a scientific investigation of the planet
Mercury. Understanding Mercury, and the forces that have shaped
it, is fundamental to understanding the terrestrial planets and
their evolution. Just what is a terrestrial planet? It is a group
of planets that are like Earth. The Messenger spacecraft will orbit
Mercury following three flybys of that planet. The orbital phase
will use the flyby information as an initial guide to perform a
focused scientific investigation of this mysterious world. Messenger
will enter Mercury orbit in March 2011 and carry out comprehensive
measurements for one Earth year. The data-collection phase of the
mission will conclude in March 2012.

Operation Blade
Gareth, Wayne and I did so well with the Maintenance
Journal in 2002 that the client took us to the Gold Coast to assist in
the International Management Maintenance Conference. We got to meet up
with Andrew and Dan and had a great time with lots of adventures. The
most famous episode was the three of us driving over 90 km from the Gold
Coast to Brisbane by moped!
